Brady Tkachuk has six goals in two games, and the Panthers needed every one of last night's three. Florida trailed Vancouver 2-0 into the third, tied it with 13 seconds left and won it in overtime, all on his stick.

Last night

Panthers 3, Canucks 2 (OT)

Liam Ohgren and defenseman Elias Pettersson put Vancouver up 2-0 in the first. Tkachuk scored at 11:11 and 19:47 of the third, then finished it 2:23 into overtime off feeds from Seth Jones and Sam Reinhart, while Leevi Meriläinen made 36 saves at the other end.

Pabs has the full recap.

Pabs: The cats owned the puck all night and still needed a guy to drag them over the line, so this wasn't a clean win. It was a Tkachuk win, which down here is the next best thing.

Lind's read: Matthew Tkachuk played 22.0 minutes, up 4.7 from the game before, per NHL data. Florida leaned on him when the game needed a push, and his assist on the first goal stretched his point streak to seven games.

Sully's chirp: Vancouver blocked 20 shots and had a two-goal lead entering the third. They lost it to one guy, which is a very Canucks way to spend a Thursday.

Wild 5, Blues 4

Matt Boldy had three goals and an assist on eight shots, and Minnesota needed all of it after St. Louis scored twice in the final four minutes.

Lind's read: Quinn Hughes added two assists and is averaging 26.7 minutes a night, per NHL data, while the Wild's power play sits at 33.3 percent.

Sabres 5, Maple Leafs 4 (OT)

Kirill Marchenko scored three times for Toronto and lost. Buffalo trailed 4-2 after two, got goals from Dennis Gilbert and Mattias Samuelsson in the third, and Owen Power won it at 3:14 of overtime. Jack Quinn had two goals and two assists.

Sully's chirp: A hat trick and a 4-2 lead after 40 minutes. The Leafs would like you to know they've never once been bored.

Devils 7, Rangers 1

Luke Hughes scored twice, and New Jersey scored three times in the first 4:39 of the second to chase Dylan Garand, who allowed four on 13 shots. Will Cuylle and Johnathan Kovacevic fought in the first.

Lind's read: Nico Daws stopped 18 of 19. New Jersey is 3-2 in its last five with a plus-5 goal differential, by our count, and this one did most of that work.

Golden Knights 6, Flames 2

Mark Stone scored three, Jack Eichel scored shorthanded and set up two more, and Ivan Barbashev had three assists. Carter Hart made 28 saves.

Sully's chirp: Stone played 14 minutes and scored three times. Some guys need a full shift to find the net, he needed a coffee break.

Utah 4, Oilers 2

Barrett Hayton and Clayton Keller scored on Utah's power play, Logan Cooley had a goal and an assist, and Karel Vejmelka made 22 saves. Leon Draisaitl's goal came off a Connor McDavid feed, so McDavid's point streak reaches seven.

Lind's read: Edmonton's penalty kill is at 68.2 percent, per NHL data. That's the stat that loses you games your stars keep you in.

Lightning 4, Kraken 3 (OT)

Brandon Hagel scored twice, Matty Beniers tied it for Seattle at 15:41 of the third, and Victor Hedman won it 2:07 into overtime with Andrei Vasilevskiy making 24 saves.

Sully's chirp: Nikita Kucherov took eight shots and didn't get a point. Buddy, the net's the big thing with the white rope on it.

Blackhawks 4, Jets 3 (OT)

Winnipeg rallied from 3-1 down on goals from Kyle Connor and Alex Iafallo, but Connor Bedard, who scored on the power play earlier, set up Artyom Levshunov's winner 1:37 into overtime.

Sharks 3, Predators 2 (SO)

Steven Stamkos tied it with one second left in regulation. Macklin Celebrini won it in the shootout, and Alex Nedeljkovic made 32 saves.

Senators 2, Islanders 1 (SO)

Linus Ullmark stopped 20 of 21, both power plays went scoreless, and Shane Pinto won it in the shootout.

Red Wings 2, Flyers 1

Andrew Copp broke a 1-1 tie at 15:22 of the third, and Detroit outshot Philadelphia 26-18.

Three stars of the night

  1. Brady Tkachuk, FLA: three goals, including the tying goal with 13 seconds left and the overtime winner.
  2. Matt Boldy, MIN: three goals and an assist on eight shots.
  3. Jack Quinn, BUF: two goals and two assists, including the feed on the overtime winner.

Lind's number of the night

39-17. That's the shot count in Sunrise, and a team that controls the puck that much usually wins in regulation; this one went to overtime because Meriläinen made 36 saves.

By our count: Quinn Hughes has a point in all eight of his games this season, the longest active streak in the league.

Sully's take of the morning

The Rangers lost 7-1 and Mika Zibanejad played 20 minutes without a shot on goal. Alexis Lafrenière kept his point streak alive with an assist and then took a 10-minute misconduct, so at least someone was paying attention. Grade: F. Fine, D-minus for the Cuylle tilt.

Kessler's corner

Boston College shut out St. Cloud State 4-0, a statement result against an NCHC program in a month when the polls are still guessing.
