The NCHC was built to be the toughest league in college hockey and has mostly delivered. Denver and North Dakota are national brands, Minnesota Duluth and Western Michigan have both cut down nets, and Arizona State''s arrival gave the conference a western outpost. Night to night it is the hardest schedule in the sport, which is why NCHC teams tend to be battle-tested by the time the tournament starts.
