Victoria opens the CHL Top-10 at No. 1 while Guelph slips to fourth
The first in-season CHL rankings have the Royals on top, London second and Cape Breton third despite two shootout losses.
The CHL's first in-season Top-10 of 2026-27 is out, and the Victoria Royals sit at No. 1 after a 4-2 opening win over Kamloops behind Cole Prelusky's 34-save debut, per the CHL. London is second after sweeping Windsor, with Evan Van Gorp (five points) and newcomer Jonathan Kapageridis (four) leading the way.
Cape Breton is third despite two shootout losses. Preseason No. 1 Guelph slipped to fourth after an 0-2 start with several players still at NHL camps.
The rest: Medicine Hat, Saginaw, Saint John, Québec, Brandon and Moncton, which cracked the list after two comeback road wins, including a 6-5 overtime game where Niko Tournas had a hat trick.
Ferda read: Cape Breton outshot opponents 87-62 across two shootout losses while missing four NHL-drafted players, per the CHL. That's a team that's going to be a problem once the bodies come back from camp. And Guelph is hosting the Memorial Cup, so an 0-2 start with half the roster in NHL rinks is a footnote, not a trend.
