NHL governors meet today with Texas expansion on the table
Bill Daly promised an update on Houston versus Austin after cooling the timeline earlier this month, with Atlanta and Phoenix still lurking.
The NHL's Board of Governors meets today. Texas expansion is the item everybody's watching. Deputy commissioner Bill Daly said the league would give an update at this meeting, per Russian Machine Never Breaks. Earlier this month he told reporters, "I don't want to treat it like a done deal because it's not."
The Friedkin group's Houston or Austin bid would run about $3.5 billion for the fee plus an arena, per RMNB. Atlanta has three separate groups circling, per Pro Hockey Rumors. Daly has said the league never soured on Phoenix. The Houston-versus-Austin call, Daly told PHR, is "a decision for our board."
