Barkey is day-to-day and Tocchet says it's not four months
The Flyers forward left Monday's loss in Hershey after a Fehervary hit; the coach downplayed it at Tuesday's morning skate.
Denver Barkey's night ended early on Monday, but the Flyers don't sound worried. Per Daily Faceoff's Mike Gould, Barkey took a hard hit from Capitals defenseman Martin Fehervary in the first period of the 5-2 loss in Hershey.
He came out for one shift in the second, then headed to the room. The Flyers ruled him out with a lower-body injury.
On Tuesday morning, Rick Tocchet called it day-to-day. "I don't think it's serious," he said, per The Hockey News' Jonathan Bailey, adding, "It's not going to be four months." Barkey, 21, put up 17 points in 43 games with Philadelphia last season.
Ferda read: "day-to-day" is exactly what a coach says in September, and it's usually true. The real story is who eats the reps. Cole Knuble and Jett Luchanko just got a few extra preseason looks. In Philly, extra looks tend to turn into jobs.
