Rangers put Trouba-trade piece Vaakanainen on waivers in 15-player day

Fifteen players hit the waiver wire Tuesday as camps trimmed down, per Daily Faceoff and Yardbarker. Detroit led the way with six. That group includes Grand Rapids captain Dominik Shine and last year's Griffins scoring leaders, John Leonard and Sheldon Dries.
The Rangers waived four, and the name that matters there is Urho Vaakanainen. The Finnish defenseman was the key piece coming back in the Jacob Trouba trade. He dressed 34 times last season and carries a $1.55 million cap hit on a two-year deal.
Ethan Bear and Henrik Tikkanen went on the wire for the Islanders. Jake Lucchini did for Nashville, Brandon Halverson for Dallas and Ludwig Persson for Washington.
